Guwahati, Assam, February 25 (HBTV): The Assam Government organised the second edition of Advantage Assam, which is one of the Northeast India's biggest infrastructure and investment summit. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday at Khanapara Veterinary College field in Guwahati.
Several Union ministers, industrialists, heads of mission, and ambassadors from different countries participated in the summit.
According to the Assam government, the state has already received proposals for investments of INR 1 trillion, and it may increase.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who reached Guwahati the previous evening attended the Jhumur dance performance called "Jhumor Binandini." Moire than 8,000 people from the tea gardens of Assam performed in the event. He then inaugurated exhibitions at the Advantage Assam event.
Approximately 2,600 memoranda are expected to be signed at the district levels for small investments — investments worth from as low as INR 5 lakh to upwards of INR 50 crore.
Approximately INR 15,900 worth of memoranda has been confirmed so far. They are reportedly in addition to the INR 1.22 lakh investment approved by the state’s Cabinet.
High-level delegations from several countries including Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Bhutan, Japan, and the United Kingdom are reportedly at the summit.
