Silchar, Assam, January 10 (HBTV): Eight people have been charged with rape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in Katigorah.

The victim was allegedly poisoned by his boyfriend and his family members in Kandigram of Katigorah in Cachar district of Assam.   

The victim's family has filed a case against eight people, including her boyfriend, for alleged rape and murder.   

According to the complaint, the 19-year-old girl was in love with a young man named Saiful Uddin of Tintikari village of Katigorah. Saiful Uddin fled with her the previous Saturday after ‘luring her to marry him.’ The victim was first raped and later in the house of her boyfriend his family members allegedly assaulted her and forced her to drink poison. The victim was then allegedly thrown on to the streets by her boyfriend's family members. However, after realizing that the matter would turn worse they took her to Katigorah Model Hospital and fled from the spot.   

The girl’s family members arrived and after seeing her condition, she was referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. The young woman died on Monday. However, before she died, she reportedly revealed to her mother the names of the culprits who committed the crime.   

The victim's family members have filed a case against eight people including her boyfriend Shaiful Uddin at the Katigorah police station on charges of rape and murder. The police have launched an investigation but have not yet arrested any of the accused persons.
