New Delhi [India], December 9 (HBTV): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the Union government's commitment to women's empowerment ahead of his visit to Haryana on Monday, announcing the launch of the Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat.

‘We are committed to the empowerment of mothers, sisters, and daughters across the country. In this series, I will get the opportunity to launch the Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat, Haryana at around 2 pm today. During this time, I will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many other projects,’ PM Modi posted on X.

The Bima Sakhi Yojana, initiated by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), aims to empower women by training them as LIC agents. Women aged 18-70 years with at least a Class X qualification will receive training and a stipend for the first three years to promote financial literacy. After completing their training, they can qualify as LIC Development Officers.

During his visit, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the main campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University in Karnal. The campus, covering 495 acres and costing over INR 700 crore, will focus on crop diversification and horticultural research.

The Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to promote financial inclusion, particularly in rural and underserved areas, by enabling women to provide life insurance services. This initiative seeks to strengthen women's financial independence while expanding insurance coverage.

Additionally, PM Modi will lay foundation stones and inaugurate various infrastructure projects to boost Haryana’s regional development.

In a related event, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 'Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024' in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event, organized at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), will feature addresses by prominent industrial leaders, including Mukesh Ambani, Anil Agarwal, Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam, and Karan Adani, followed by the Prime Minister’s special address.
