Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 7 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday inaugurated water purification projects for the drains flowing into the Rapti river.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the Municipal Corporation in keeping the Rapti river clean and safe.
‘Our Rapti river has remained undisturbed and serene. Commendable efforts have been made by the Municipal Corporation to keep the river safe and clean. I congratulate the entire team for this. This is great work being done to save nature and life,’ CM Yogi said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of clean water, particularly for the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh, who have experienced the devastating effects of waterborne diseases in the past.
‘Who understands the importance of clean water better than the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh, who lost more than 50,000 innocent children due to dirty water from 1970 to 2007? We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose vision inspired the Swachh Bharat Mission to ensure pure drinking water for everyone. Under this initiative, the Amrit Mission was started in urban areas, and the Jal Jeevan Mission was launched in rural regions,’ CM Yogi stated.
The Chief Minister emphasized the success of the Namami Gange project, noting its impact on the state. He remarked, ‘Today, after the Namami Gange project, the world's biggest religious and spiritual congregation is set to be held in Uttar Pradesh, in Prayagraj. Gorakhpur has also transformed into a major metropolis.’
He further explained the cost-effective natural methods employed for water purification, highlighting the savings achieved.
‘Through natural methods, no electricity or additional expenses were required, saving crores of rupees. This is a commendable initiative, and we will continue to advance drainage systems using cost-effective and natural methods. We will succeed in preserving the purity of water and maintaining harmony with nature,’ he added. (ANI)
