UP govt seizes about 25,000 kg of illegal drugs in 5 months

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 21 (HBTV): The Uttar Pradesh government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal drugs is piling on seized contraband. The authorities’ actions have resulted in the seizure of more than 24,529 kilograms of illegal drugs in the first five months of 2024 alone, an official statement said. 

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force alone seized 7,317 kilograms of illegal drugs worth more than INR 70 crore.   

Additionally, various awareness programs are being conducted across the state to educate people about the dangers of using illegal drugs. The programs encourage people to stay away from these substances. 

Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directive, large quantities of illegal drugs are being seized through various campaigns.    

By May 2024, a total of 3,657 cases related to the sale and purchase of illegal drugs had been registered. Approximately 4,548 individuals have been arrested.
