Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], December 6 (HBTV): Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to participate in the concluding ceremony of the 'Bastar Olympics' during his three-day visit to Chhattisgarh from December 14 to 16, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Friday.
CM Sai also expressed gratitude for the Chhattisgarh Police being awarded the prestigious President's Police Colour award, which Shah will present during his visit. Sai remarked, 'It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh Police to receive this prestigious award. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also participate in the concluding ceremony of the Bastar Olympics.'
The Home Minister's visit will primarily focus on reviewing anti-Naxal operations and the state's security landscape. Shah is scheduled to chair a high-level security review meeting in Raipur, addressing ongoing efforts and developments in combating left-wing extremism.
Additionally, Shah will visit Jagdalpur to interact with surrendered Maoists, local residents, and intellectuals. He will also pay tribute to martyrs and meet with families affected by left-wing extremism. Furthermore, Shah is set to inspect security camps, oversee developmental projects, and dine with security personnel stationed in the region.
The Bastar Olympics, organized by the Chhattisgarh government, is a multi-sport event aimed at promoting sports among tribal youth. The event highlights the state’s commitment to fostering talent and unity in the region.
Reflecting on the progress in combating Naxalism, CM Sai said, 'Since our government came to power, our security forces have been fighting strongly against Naxalism. We are succeeding in establishing peace in Bastar, and regular review meetings are held regarding this.'
Earlier, Sai, along with Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, met Shah in Delhi to extend an invitation for his visit.
