New Delhi [India], April 6 (HBTV): In a move to strengthen rural connectivity and accelerate economic growth, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned road connectivity projects for the states of Tripura and Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
According to an official release, Tripura has been sanctioned 25 roads measuring 84.352 km, with an estimated investment of INR 76.47 crore. Prior to this, 42 roads spanning 118.756 km had already been sanctioned in the state under PM-JANMAN, with an estimated investment of INR 114.32 crore.
In Odisha, 26 roads covering 63.271 km and two Long Span Bridges (LSBs), with an estimated investment of INR 69.65 crore, have been sanctioned. Additionally, 66 roads measuring 211.14 km and four LSBs had previously been approved with a total estimated investment of INR 219.40 crore.
The initiative aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations in both states. It is expected to enhance the socio-economic condition of these communities by bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centres, thereby fostering economic development, trade, and commerce.
The release stated that the initiative would ‘improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets and create employment opportunities and stimulate local economies, thus aligning with the government's vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat).’
The projects under PM-JANMAN are projected to have a transformative impact on the region, contributing to the growth and prosperity of tribal groups and reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
