Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) [India], February 27 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma visited Jagdalpur on Sunday and spoke about the local elections being conducted in the interior areas. He expressed pride that local body elections were held for the first time in about 100 places, emphasising the importance of re-establishing the Indian Constitution in these regions.

'Whatever it is, it is a matter of joy that for the first time, local elections are being held in about 100 places and are being conducted fairly. In the previous places where the people were shifted to Silger last time, polling is being held there this time. Our Indian Constitution is being re-established there. It is a matter of joy,' said Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Sharma.

Furthermore, Vijay Sharma was asked about the government's participation in a major event organised by the royal family of Jagdalpur. Sharma stated that he had come to attend the wedding ceremony of the king and that the Chief Minister had made a special announcement for the Bastar and Dantewada regions. He noted that the government would organise a cultural event named Bastar Pandum, which would be held at every level to showcase Bastar's local and cultural heritage.

'It is the marriage of Raja Saheb of the royal family, and I have come to attend that wedding. The Honourable Chief Minister has made another special announcement, which I would like to share with all of you. In Dantewada, unifying the entire culture of Bastar from the village level onwards, their dance, Bastar jewellery, songs, music, instruments, clothing, food, and jewellery, all aspects of their culture will be highlighted. Programmes will be organised at the local level, at the district level, and then in Dantewada,' he said.

'A programme at the divisional level, i.e. the entire Bastar level, Bastar Pandum, is also going to take place. The Honourable Chief Minister decided this yesterday. All of this is being done with the intent that the culture of Bastar should be showcased to the world so that people can connect with us and live with self-respect,' Chhattisgarh Deputy CM added.
