Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar responded to AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations against the Haryana government regarding the water of Yamuna River.

New Delhi [India], February 1 (HBTV): Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar responded to AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations against the Haryana government regarding the Yamuna River’s water, stating that the AAP supremo should be held 'legally' responsible for his remarks.

Khattar emphasized that the Haryana government had filed a complaint in the Sonipat court and added that the Election Commission would also take appropriate action in response to Kejriwal's statements.

“The kind of statement he gives, it is not only politically wrong but he should be held responsible legally as well. The Haryana government has filed a complaint in the Sonipat court... The Election Commission will also take action against this,” the Union Minister said.

This comes after Kejriwal, in a letter to the Election Commission on Friday, raised serious allegations against Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He called for a criminal case to be filed against Saini concerning the ‘poisonous’ Yamuna issue.

Kejriwal claimed that ammonia contamination levels in the raw water being supplied to Delhi from Haryana were "unprecedented and dangerously" high. In his letter, he stated that ammonia levels began increasing sharply from January 15 (around 3.2 ppm on January 15) and reached 7 ppm in the following days.

The AAP Convenor mentioned that Delhi Chief Minister Atishi contacted the Haryana CM to resolve the crisis. Despite several attempts, the issue remained unresolved.

“The Chief Minister of Delhi called up the Chief Minister of Haryana in the last week of December and requested him to either take steps to reduce ammonia or provide additional water to dilute it. Though CM Haryana assured me that he would take the necessary steps, however, he did not. Subsequently, CM Delhi again called him several times. After a few calls, CM Haryana stopped taking CM Delhi’s calls,” the letter stated.

Kejriwal alleged a “deliberate conspiracy” by the Haryana CM to influence the Delhi Assembly elections. He claimed that the Haryana CM, a member of the BJP, sent highly polluted water to Delhi to create artificial water scarcity and place the blame on the AAP government.

“There was a deliberate conspiracy on the part of Haryana CM, who happens to be from BJP, to influence Delhi elections by sending highly polluted waters to Delhi. He knew very well that this would create artificial water scarcity in Delhi, whose blame would lie on the AAP government in Delhi. This would have rendered almost half of Delhi without water and created huge public misery for almost 10 million people of Delhi who would have gone without water,” Kejriwal said in the letter.

He also expressed surprise at the Election Commission’s actions, claiming bias and stating that instead of acting against the Haryana CM, the Election Commission was targeting him.

“I am also shocked that the CEC did not pass any orders directing Haryana CM to stop polluting Delhi’s waters right before elections. Rather, CEC chose to hound me,” Kejriwal added in his letter.

On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal had leveled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that the BJP-ruled Haryana government had "poisoned" the Yamuna water supplied to Delhi to create a crisis, blaming the AAP government. (ANI)
