Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wins by more than four lakh votes

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has won the bypolls to the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat on Saturday. This marks the first-ever electoral win for the debutante.

Wayanad, Kerala, November 23 (HBTV): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has won the bypolls to the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat on Saturday. This marks the first-ever electoral win for the debutante. 

Vadra surpassed the margin of votes secured by her brother the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.

Vadra contested as the candidate of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) from the constituency. She had extended her lead to over four lakh votes after six hours of ballot counting, according to the Election Commission.   

According to the latest EC figures, Vadra had a lead of 4,10,931 with 6,22,338 votes.   

The LDF's Sathyan Mokeri was behind her with 2,11,407 votes and NDA's Navya Haridas was in the third spot with 1,09,939 votes.    

Rahul Gandhi had got 6,47,445 votes and won by a margin of 3,64,422 votes against his nearest rival, CPI's Annie Raja, in the LS polls this year.   

In 2019, he had received 7,06,367 votes and had won by a margin of 4,31,770 votes.
