President Droupadi Murmu has revoked the suspension of A Koan, a 2009-batch Indian Police Service officer of the AGMUT cadre who was suspended allegedly for misbehaving with a female tourist.

New Delhi [India], July 13 (HBTV): President Droupadi Murmu on Friday revoked the suspension of A Koan, a 2009-batch Indian Police Service officer of the AGMUT cadre who was suspended allegedly for misbehaving with a female tourist at a Goa beach club in 2023.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered his transfer to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with immediate effect.

"With the approval of the Competent Authority, Dr A Koan, IPS (AGMUT:2009) is hereby transferred from Goa and posted to Andaman and Nicobar Islands with immediate effect and until further orders," the order read.

Koan was suspended by President Murmu on August 16 the previous year following a report by the Goa Police to the Ministry of Home Affairs, accusing him of misbehaving with a female tourist at a beach club in North Goa while intoxicated.

The ministry issued two separate orders on July 11. One of the orders read, ‘The president, after considering the facts and current circumstances of the case, has come to the conclusion that continuation of the suspension of Dr A Koan, IPS (AGMUT: 2009) is no longer in the public interest and, therefore, his suspension may be revoked’.
