Chandigarh [India], December 3 (HBTV): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today dedicate to the nation the successful implementation of three transformative criminal laws: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The event will take place in Chandigarh at noon.
PM Modi expressed his joy on social media, stating: 'A special day in our efforts to ensure speedy justice for every Indian and, at the same time, break free from colonial mindsets. At 12 noon today, will join the programme in Chandigarh to mark the successful implementation of the three new criminal laws... It's a matter of immense joy that these laws are coming into being at a time when we mark 75 years of our Constitution being adopted by the Constituent Assembly.'
The event, themed 'Secure Society, Developed India - From Punishment to Justice,' underscores the Prime Minister's vision of replacing colonial-era laws with modern frameworks that prioritize justice over punishment.
The programme will include a live demonstration showcasing the application of these laws in a simulated crime scene investigation, emphasizing their transformative impact on India's criminal justice system.
Implemented nationwide on July 1, 2024, the laws aim to modernize the legal system by addressing contemporary challenges such as cybercrime and organized crime while ensuring justice for victims. These reforms mark a significant milestone in India's efforts to make its judicial processes more transparent, efficient, and aligned with the needs of the 21st century.
