Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 4 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday criticised the previous government, asserting that the current administration not only eliminated the mafia from the state but also implemented the One District One Medical College initiative.
Addressing the public in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister said, ‘The state and administration are the same; only the government has changed... As soon as the BJP came to power, the state, which was considered to be a barrier to growth, has now emerged as the no. 1 leading state with growth in every sector... This journey was not easy. The situation was tough before 2017. There were riots every day.’
He further said, ‘The previous government had a mafia in every district that extorted the people, grabbed lands, carried out illegal mining, and smuggled animals; their goons were a danger to traders and daughters. We did not only end the mafia but also established One District One Medical College.'
Earlier in the day, CM Adityanath distributed motorised tricycles to differently-abled persons and visited an exhibition based on public welfare schemes of the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, held to mark the completion of eight years of the State government in Gorakhpur.
On Monday, the Chief Minister praised his BJP government's performance on its eighth anniversary, highlighting the completion of ‘eight years of service, safety, and good governance’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
‘Under the leadership of PM Modi, eight years of service, safety, and good governance have been completed... the double-engine government of UP has completed eight years today... I thank 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh for their support,’ Adityanath said at a press conference.
Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister in 2017 after the BJP, which contested the polls without declaring a chief ministerial candidate, secured a massive mandate by winning 312 out of 403 seats. The party returned to power in the 2022 assembly elections, winning 255 seats, with its allies also performing impressively. This made Adityanath the first Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh’s history to win two consecutive terms.
