Delhi, India, June 13 (HBTV):  Following the furor against the unusually high grace marking for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) 2024, the central government has cancelled the marks. The government has also given candidates to re-take the tests.

The central government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that 1,563 NEET-UG candidates, who were given ‘grace marks,’ will be given the option to take re-test on June 23. It said a decision needs to be taken to cancel the scorecards of the students who were given grace marks.

The government also said that the students will be given the option to take a retest. The Supreme Court of India today reiterated that it will not stay the counseling process. The plea filed against the National Testing Agency said that the examination on May 5 was conducted amid malpractices, including multiple paper leaks.

The alleged paper leak was in violation of Article 14 (Right to Equality) under the Constitution as it gave undue advantage to some candidates over others who chose to attempt the examination in a fair manner, it said.
