Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], February 15 (HBTV): Crispy, hollow puris filled with spiced tangy water, potatoes, and chickpeas—popularly known as 'golgappa' or 'puchka'—are trending on social media, not for their recipe but because of a vendor in Maharashtra's Nagpur.
Vijay Mewalal Gupta's pani puri stall in Orange City has gained fame for its unique offers, including a lifetime unlimited pani puri deal for INR 99,000 and a reward of INR 21,000 for anyone who can eat 151 pani puris in one sitting.
Under the lifetime offer, customers can enjoy unlimited pani puris for their entire lives at no additional cost. Vijay believes that, given rising inflation and annual expenses on street food, his deal is cost-effective.
'We have offers ranging from INR 1 to INR 99,000, covering everything from one-day deals to lifetime plans. Two people have already availed of the INR 99,000 offer. I want to shield my customers from inflation in the future,' Vijay told ANI.
He has also introduced a unique Maha Kumbh offer, selling golgappas for just INR 1—but only for those who can eat 40 pani puris in one sitting.
Additionally, Vijay has a special discount for beneficiaries of the Ladli Behena Yojana, a direct cash transfer scheme by the Maharashtra government. Under this deal, they can enjoy unlimited pani puris in one sitting for just INR 60.
Vijay said these offers have not only made him famous but have also significantly boosted his business.
'We come here every other day. There's an unlimited pani puri offer for a month at INR 195. His food is delicious, and he has become really famous. His friendly nature makes everyone happy,' said a customer, Vijay.
Another customer, Tejaswini, shared her excitement about the deals: 'I saw this stall on social media and was eager to try the offers. I opted for a small deal, and it was a great experience.'
Vijay's innovative business model is not only attracting customers but also making waves on social media, proving that unique ideas always have a place—whether in the world of golgappas or beyond.
