Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 21 (HBTV): Karnataka Lokayukta, the state's anti-corruption agency, conducted raids across several locations in the state on Thursday.
The raids were carried out in Kolar, Bengaluru City, and Mandya districts in connection with four cases registered against government officials.
Approximately 25 premises linked to officials were searched, and records were examined by the Karnataka Lokayukta.
In Chikkaballapur, the raids targeted Krishnaveni M.C., Senior Geologist in the Department of Mines and Geology, while in Mandya, they were conducted against Mahesh, Managing Director of Kaveri Neeravai Nigama at the Surface Water Data Centre in Bengaluru.
Other officials under investigation include N.K. Thippe Swamy, Director of Town and Country Planning, and Mohan K., Excise Superintendent in Bengaluru City.
The Karnataka Lokayukta has conducted similar operations in the past. In July, the agency carried out raids across six districts, targeting 12 state officials. During those operations, residences of six officials in Bengaluru City, two in Bengaluru Rural District, two in Shimoga district, and one each in Yadagiri and Tumkur were raided. A total of 54 locations were searched.
Officials raided in July included C.T. Muddu Kumar, Additional Director of the Industries and Commerce Department; Balawanth, Project Director of Yojana Nirdarshakaru; R. Siddappa, Senior Veterinary Officer; K. Narasimha Murthy, Municipal Commissioner of Hebbagodi CMC; Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax; and several others.
The Karnataka Lokayukta is an anti-corruption body tasked with investigating and addressing corruption, maladministration, and grievances involving public servants.
