The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has established a new Company Operative Base in Kutul, located in Chhattisgarh's Abhujhmad region, known as the capital of Naxals.

New Delhi [India], February 8 (HBTV): The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has established a new Company Operative Base (COB) in Kutul, located in Chhattisgarh's Abhujhmad region, known as the capital of Naxals.

The establishment of the new COB aims to reduce and control Naxalite activities in the highly Naxal-prone Abhujhmad—also referred to as Abujhmarh or Abujmarh—a hilly and forested region in Chhattisgarh. This remote and largely unexplored area covers parts of Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada districts.

ITBP's 41st Battalion inaugurated the new COB on Wednesday. The battalions under ITBP’s Tactical Sector Headquarters in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh) are continuing to establish new COBs to curb Naxalite activities in the state’s most affected regions.

According to ITBP officials, the opening of the new COB will enhance the implementation of Mission Kagar-2026, the central government’s Naxal eradication initiative in Chhattisgarh.

Kutul, located about 5 km ahead of Kodeliyar in Narayanpur district, is considered the heart of Naxal activities in the Abhujhmad region. ITBP stated that the new COB will help alleviate fear among local residents and instill a sense of security.

Furthermore, ITBP officials believe that the move will significantly curb Naxal influence and encourage the local population to integrate into the national mainstream. (ANI)
