Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 25 (HBTV): The house of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, has been demolished, officials said on Friday.
Adil Guree, a resident of Guree village in Bijbehara block of Anantnag district, is believed to have played a key role in the recent Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, including a Nepalese national, most of whom were tourists. He has been declared the most wanted by Anantnag Police, which has announced a reward of INR 20 lakh for specific information leading to his arrest. Two Pakistani nationals have also been declared most wanted in connection with the case.
Guree had reportedly travelled illegally to Pakistan in 2018, where he received terror training before returning to Jammu and Kashmir last year.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two security personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists in Bandipora district on Friday morning, police said.
The encounter broke out after security forces launched a search operation in the Kulnar Ajas area of Bandipora district based on intelligence input about the presence of terrorists.
‘On 25 Apr 2025, based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a Joint Search Operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the general area of Kolnar Ajas, Bandipora. Contact was established, and a firefight ensued,’ Chinar Corps of the Indian Army stated on X.
Further details of the operation are awaited.
These developments come in the wake of the April 22 terror attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, where terrorists killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, leaving several others injured.
Following the attack, the Central government initiated a series of diplomatic actions, including the closure of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspension of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, ordering them to leave within 40 hours, and reducing the number of officers in the High Commissions of both countries.
The Pahalgam attack has triggered nationwide outrage, with protests erupting across India demanding stringent action against Pakistan.
