Ram Navami, the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri, is a significant occasion in Hinduism dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine incarnations, collectively known as Navdurga.
Maa Siddhidatri, considered the ninth form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on this day. The Sanskrit word Siddhidatri means ‘giver of meditative ability’. According to legend, she mounted a lotus and killed the demon Mahishasura on this day, which is why it is termed Maha Navami.
Navratri, which means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, is a Hindu festival celebrating Goddess Durga and her divine forms. While four Navratris are observed annually, Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri are most widely celebrated across India as they coincide with seasonal transitions.
