Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], November 20 (HBTV): The DMK on Wednesday passed six resolutions during a high-level committee meeting, condemning the BJP-led Central Government over multiple issues, including violence in Manipur, 'Hindi imposition,' youth unemployment, the Waqf Amendment Bill, and the idea of 'One Nation, One Election.'
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin led the DMK high-level committee meeting at Party HQ Anna Arivalayam, in which senior leaders including General Secretary Duraimuragan, Treasurer TR Balu, Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi, Ponmudi, A Raja, Senior Leaders TKS Elangovan, Organizing Secretary RS Bharathi, and Minister E Velu were present.
According to sources, ahead of the 2026 state election, changes were planned for the party's organization structure, and arrangements for the party's general council meeting were also discussed during today's high-level committee meeting.
The first of the six resolutions appreciated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for "introducing various people welfare schemes" under the Dravidian model of governance.
The DMK also passed a resolution condemning the Centre, accusing it of 'Hindi imposition' and discriminating against non-BJP-ruled states in the allocation of funds. It also slammed the BJP over unemployment, the introduction of the Waqf Amendment Bill, and the failure to fulfill promises made during the 2014 elections, as well as blocking state funds under the Samagra Siksha scheme.
Another resolution focused on the Sri Lankan fishermen issue, requesting the Union Government to engage with the new Sri Lankan government to ensure the safety and welfare of Tamil Nadu fishermen.
The DMK condemned Prime Minister Modi for not visiting Manipur, where ethnic violence has been ongoing, and requested that the PM give special focus to the region.
A resolution on the 16th Finance Commission emphasized that Tamil Nadu's demands should be fully addressed, urging the Union Government to consider these requests.
Finally, MK Stalin asked party functionaries to prepare for the 2026 state elections, with the resolution stating, "Let's prepare for the assembly election. There is no doubt that DMK will form the government again in 2026. Cadres should start the election campaign from today." (ANI)
