New Delhi [India], April 1 (HBTV): Delhi witnessed its best average Air Quality Index (AQI) readings in the January-March quarter of 2025, with the average AQI for March standing at 170, down six points from 2024, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reported on Monday.
According to CAQM, the January-March quarter marked the best AQI in the last five years (since 2020).
"The month of March 2025 recorded the best average AQI in Delhi at 170. The average AQI for March in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 was 223, 217, 170, and 176 respectively," a statement from CAQM said.
The statement also noted that the January-March quarter in 2025 saw an average AQI of 231, the best during the last five years. In comparison, the AQI stood at 250 in 2024, 240 in 2023, 241 in 2022, and 278 in 2021.
CAQM further stated, "This quarter in 2025 did not witness even a single day with an AQI exceeding 400, unlike in 2024, which saw three days with AQI over 400. In previous years, the number of days exceeding AQI 400 were 06, 01, and 03 in 2021, 2022, and 2023 respectively."
Additionally, Delhi saw 36 days in the January-March quarter of 2025 with an AQI lower than 200. In comparison, there were 41 such days in 2024, 35 in 2023, 27 in 2022, and just 13 in 2021.
CAQM is working closely with various stakeholders to implement effective measures for controlling air pollution and improving air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR).
