New Delhi [India], January 15 (HBTV): A three-year-old child died after falling from an escalator handrail at Pacific Mall in Tilak Nagar, Delhi, police officials reported on Wednesday.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday when the child, along with a group of women and children from Uttam Nagar, visited the mall to watch a movie.

The accident took place at around 5:45 PM while the group was occupied with buying movie tickets. The child approached the escalator and fell over the handrail while attempting to slide along it.

He was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital but was declared brought dead.

The police confirmed, 'An information was received from DDU Hospital around 7 PM regarding a child being brought in dead. Further inquiry revealed that the family had come from Uttam Nagar to Pacific Mall to watch a movie. While the women were busy buying tickets, the child, Vishal (approximately 3 years old), fell from the escalator handrail while trying to slide along it. He was taken to the hospital but was declared brought dead.' (ANI)
