Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 4 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed motorised tricycles to differently-abled persons in Gorakhpur on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited an exhibition showcasing public welfare schemes of the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, organised to mark the completion of eight years of the State government.
On Monday, CM Adityanath praised his BJP government’s performance on its eighth anniversary, stating that eight years of ‘service, safety, and good governance’ had been achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During a special programme held to commemorate the milestone, Adityanath expressed gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
‘Under the leadership of PM Modi, eight years of service, safety, and good governance have been completed... the double-engine government of UP has completed eight years today... I thank 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh for their support,’ he said at a press conference.
Reflecting on past administrations, the Chief Minister said the state had faced an ‘identity crisis’ and that its infrastructure, economy, and law and order were in a ‘dire state’.
He added, ‘Most of us know what the condition and identity of UP was eight years ago. The condition of UP’s infrastructure and economy eight years ago was not hidden... There was an identity crisis in front of UP; farmers were committing suicide, youth were struggling, daughters and traders were unsafe, and the people tolerated the poor economy because of riots and the collapsed law and order situation.’
Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister in 2017 after the BJP, which contested the polls without naming a chief ministerial candidate, won an unprecedented mandate with 312 out of 403 seats. The party returned to power in the 2022 assembly elections, winning 255 seats, with its allies also securing notable victories. This made Adityanath the first Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh’s history to win two consecutive terms.
