Mungeli (Chhattisgarh) [India], January 10 (HBTV): Two individuals have been rescued, while three to four labourers are feared trapped under debris after a silo collapsed at an iron-making factory in the Sargaon area of Mungeli district on Thursday, officials said.
The injured have been transported to Bilaspur for medical treatment. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway.
Mungeli Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhojram Patel stated, 'We received information that part of the chimney, silo collapsed at the smelting plant, trapping several labourers underneath. Personnel from almost all departments are present at the site. Three to four people could still be trapped.'
'The exact situation will become clear once the debris is cleared. Two injured individuals have been sent to Bilaspur for medical treatment. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing,' he added.
Mungeli Collector Rahul Deo also commented on the incident, stating, 'The rescue operation is progressing at full pace. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has arrived. We have sufficient manpower and the necessary machinery.'
'A few labourers are missing, and the rescue operation for them is underway. We are gathering details from the plant manager and will have more information soon,' the Collector added.
Several labourers were feared trapped after the silo structure at the factory in Sargaon, Mungeli, collapsed. Police and administrative officials are on-site, overseeing the rescue and relief operations.
