Gariaband (Chhattisgarh) [India], March 22 (HBTV): Security forces have recovered INR 8 lakh in cash, several explosive materials, and Naxal literature in Gariaband, an official said.
Speaking to ANI, SP Nikhil Rakhecha said, 'Gariaband police have achieved significant success in disrupting the supply and support system of Naxalites. In a joint operation involving teams from Gariaband police, STF, Cobra, and CRPF, security forces successfully recovered a Naxal dump. INR 8 lakh in cash, several explosive materials, and Naxal literature have been seized.'
SP Rakhecha stated that an FIR has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the source of the seized cash.
'An FIR has been registered, and the source of this INR 8 lakh will also be investigated to identify those from whom the Naxalites collected this money. Action will be taken against all those involved. We are continuously working to ensure that Maoists willing to surrender can benefit from government policies,' he said.
This development comes days after security forces neutralised 30 Naxalites in two separate encounters in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur and Kanker districts.
Home Minister Amit Shah commended the security forces for the operation and reiterated that the country would be 'Naxal-free' before March 31, 2026.
In a post on X, Shah stated, 'Today, our soldiers have achieved another major success in the Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. A total of 22 Naxalites were killed in two separate operations by our security forces in Bijapur and Kanker, Chhattisgarh. The Modi government is taking a ruthless approach against Naxalites and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those who refuse to surrender despite opportunities for rehabilitation. The country will be Naxal-free before March 31 next year.'
During the previous week, 17 Naxalites surrendered in Bijapur district, according to police. In February, security forces arrested 18 Naxalites and recovered explosives from them in operations conducted at three different locations in Bijapur.
