Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 29 (HBTV): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister revealed that at least one businessman from the state was killed in the attack and stated that the state government is in contact with the victim’s relatives.

'Yesterday, some terrorists in Pahalgam carried out this act. I strongly condemn it and whoever is affected, I express my sympathies to them,' Sai said during a press conference in Raipur.

He expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the urgency with which the Prime Minister responded to the attack by cutting short his visit to Saudi Arabia and convening a meeting at the airport itself.

'Whenever such incidents happen to the country, there has been a befitting reply to it. Our PM was on a visit to Saudi Arabia and has come back in the night itself, and he has taken a meeting, so the gravity is understood. There will be a befitting reply to this,' Sai said.

Sai also mentioned that a businessman from Chhattisgarh was among the victims of the attack. 'Yeah, there has been a death of a businessman there, his name is Dinesh, I think. We are in contact with their relatives,' he added.

The attack, which targeted tourists in the Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, took place earlier on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an urgent briefing at the Palam Airport with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other senior officials, in view of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

PM Modi arrived in the national capital, cutting short his state visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was on a two-day visit at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Earlier, the Prime Minister condemned the attack and vowed that those behind it would be brought to justice.

He said in a post, 'I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice...they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable, and it will get even stronger.'

The incident, which targeted tourists, has sparked widespread outrage across the country. Several political leaders condemned the attack. (ANI)
