Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], January 9 (HBTV): After the Congress announced Jeevan Raksha Yojana for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, promising to provide INR 25 lakh health cover per family, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said on Wednesday that the Congress has lost the trust of the people and will not gain any benefit in the elections.
Speaking to the media, CM Sai said, 'Whatever the Congress may say this time, they have lost the trust of the people. They will not get any benefit in the Delhi elections.'
Earlier today, Congress announced Jeevan Raksha Yojana in Delhi, promising to provide INR 25 lakh health cover per family. The announcement was made at a press conference by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the national capital.
Gehlot termed the scheme a "game changer" for Delhi. 'We have given a lot of coverage to health... Jeevan Raksha Yojana of the Delhi government will be similar to Chiranjeevi Yojana of the Rajasthan government. I am happy that I got the opportunity to launch this scheme here,' the senior Congress leader told reporters.
'Health insurance schemes in Rajasthan have been very successful, and in Delhi, we will replicate the same. It benefits all, whereas Ayushman Bharat has its limitations,' Gehlot added.
The Delhi Assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8. The last date for filing nominations is January 17, and the scrutiny of nominations will occur on January 18. The final date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20.
The Congress, which governed Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has faced significant setbacks in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats. In contrast, the AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, banking on its "performance" in the education and health sectors.
AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in the 2020 assembly elections, while BJP secured eight seats. (ANI)
