The administration in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh has launched a campaign to make 35,000 people literate.

Balrampur (Chhattisgarh), December 21 (HBTV): Highlighting that 'education is the most powerful weapon in the world for transformation,' the administration in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of the Vishnu Deo Sai-led government, has launched a campaign to make 35,000 people literate.

As part of the initiative, the administration has established 3,500 'Ullas Saksharta Kendras' across the district to teach people from various age groups. The district administration is actively monitoring the progress of these centres.

According to officials, volunteers selected by the administration conduct classes at the Ullas Kendras during evening hours, focusing on individuals from diverse age groups and genders.

Villagers participating in the campaign expressed their delight in learning to read and write. Many shared that they are now able to write their names and will soon transition from using thumb impressions to signatures, which they are practicing.

'This campaign aims to make approximately 35,000 individuals literate, including those who left their studies due to various reasons,' said Zila Panchayat CEO Rena Jamil.

She added that 3,500 Ullas Kendras have been set up across the district, with an equal number of volunteers actively participating. 'The volunteers include school students. To encourage their involvement, the government has announced that Class 10 students teaching under this campaign will earn an additional 10 marks in their board examinations,' she noted.

District and block-level officers are also contributing by taking classes for elderly individuals and school dropouts, she further explained. (ANI)
