Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar loses Delhi assembly membership after switching to BJP

New Delhi [India], September 25 (HBTV): Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar has lost his membership in the Delhi assembly. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has disqualified Tanwar under the anti-defection law.

According to the order issued on the instructions of the Delhi Assembly Speaker, the assembly membership of Kartar Singh Tanwar has been terminated from July 10.

Tanwar was elected from the Chattarpur constituency on an Aam Admi Party ticket in the 2020 assembly elections. Earlier in July, he left the AAP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi.

He joined the BJP along with former Delhi social welfare minister and AAP MLA Raaj Kumar Anand.

Earlier in July, at the time of joining BJP, Raaj Kumar Anand criticized the AAP chief and then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that requests to Kejriwal to work for the welfare of the Dalits was denied.
