New Delhi [India], November 23 (HBTV): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has established a comfortable lead in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-polls, securing over 1,65,487 votes and leading by a margin of approximately 1,08,558 votes. The CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri is trailing in second place, while the BJP's Navya Haridas holds the third spot.
In Maharashtra’s Nanded Lok Sabha seat, the BJP’s Santukrao Marotrao Hambarde is leading with a margin of 5,983 votes over Congress candidate Chavan Ravindra Vasantrao. Voter turnout for the Nanded by-poll was recorded at 53.78%.
The by-polls encompassed 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituencies across 15 states. Key contests included Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's electoral debut in Wayanad and the BJP-Congress faceoff in Nanded.
Maharashtra Assembly Trends:The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is leading in 172 seats as of 10 am, surpassing the halfway mark. The alliance includes:
- BJP: Leading in 100 seats
- Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction): Leading in 53 seats
- Nationalist Congress Party (NCP): Leading in 33 seats
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance is trailing with leads in 47 seats:
- Congress: Leading in 17 seats
- Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT Sena): Leading in 18 seats
- NCP (Sharad Pawar faction): Leading in 12 seats
Smaller parties, including the Jan Surajya Shakti (JSS) and Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWPI), are leading in a handful of seats and may align with the MVA.
