Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds, including two deep injuries, one near his spine. A foreign object was also identified close to his spine.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 16 (HBTV): Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan suffered six stab wounds, including two deep injuries, one near his spine. A foreign object was also identified close to his spine, according to a statement issued by Lilavati Hospital following an attack by an intruder at his residence.

Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lilavati Hospital, stated that Saif was admitted to the hospital at 3:00 am on Thursday.

'Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unidentified person at his house. He was brought to the hospital at 3:00 am by the caretaker. He has six stab wounds caused by sharp objects like knives. Two of these wounds are deep, and one is located near his spine. A small foreign object close to the spine has been identified,' Dr. Uttamani said.

The hospital further informed that the actor is undergoing surgery conducted by a team of specialists, including Dr. Nitin Dange (Consultant Neurosurgeon), Dr. Leena Jain (Consultant Plastic Surgeon), Dr. Nisha Gandhi (Consultant Anaesthesiologist), Dr. Kavita Srinivas (Intensivist), and Dr. Manoj Deshmukh (Consultant Radiologist).

'The extent of the damage will be determined once the surgery is completed,' the COO added.

In a later update, the actor’s team has issued a statement stating that the actor is out of danger and is currently recovering.

‘Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police are investigating the incident,’ the statement read.

"We would like to thank Dr Niraj Uttamani, Dr Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati Hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time," Saif Ali Khan's team added.
