Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], November 28 (HBTV): A shocking incident unfolded in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where a 4-year-old girl was rescued after being sold by her parents for INR 40,000. The parents, originally from Bihar, along with four others involved in the transaction, have been arrested, according to the police.
The couple, reportedly facing financial difficulties, sold their child to a childless couple in Pipili. Trupti Ranjan Nayak, in charge of the Badagada Police Station, stated that the parents were working as daily laborers in the area.
After the matter came to light, Badagada police rescued the girl and initiated an investigation. Six individuals, including the child’s parents and two intermediaries, have been arrested.
Nayak confirmed, "Today morning we received information from Sarthak Mahadik that a Bihar couple residing in his home had sold their four-year-old daughter. We have registered a case, and the girl has been rescued from a village in the Pipli area. Six people have been detained, and interrogation is ongoing."
The parents have admitted to selling their daughter and have named two local intermediaries who allegedly facilitated the transaction. Further investigations are underway.
