New Delhi, India, September 17 (HBTV): Delhi minister Atishi has been named the chief minister of Delhi. She will take over as chief minister after Arvind Kejriwal resigns from the top post after a meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena this afternoon. The decision was taken at an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators' meeting on September 17.
According to updates on Tuesday, AAP leader Dilip Pandey proposed that Arvind Kejriwal decide on the next chief ministerial face. When the AAP national convener proposed Atishi's name, all AAP MLAs ‘stood up and accepted it’ and she was elected the leader of the legislature party, the national media reported.
The 43-year-old MLA from Kalkaji became a minister after former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested in a corruption case linked to Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy.
