New Delhi [India], November 4 (HBTV): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday emphasized the importance of children and youth studying, analyzing, and making decisions in their mother tongue.

At the 32nd meeting of the 'Kendriya Hindi Samiti'—the highest body responsible for guiding the development and promotion of the Hindi language—Shah stressed that this approach is essential for unlocking the full potential of the nation's youth and advancing India’s development.

“If we want to harness the full potential of our children and youth for the country’s progress, it is crucial that they study, analyze, and make decisions in their mother tongue,” Shah remarked.

Shah highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken numerous initiatives for the preservation, promotion, and widespread use of Indian languages, designating 2014–2024 as an era focused on protecting and promoting Indian languages. Shah noted that PM Modi has elevated Hindi’s importance by using it on international forums.

He further mentioned that offering engineering, medical, and primary and secondary education in Indian languages has created a favorable environment for the development of all languages across the country. According to Shah, this shift is an inspiring transformation toward language development in India, with a view to fully leveraging the nation’s potential.

The Home Minister also pointed out that the 'Kendriya Hindi Samiti' aims to develop Hindi, preserve Hindi literature, and establish it as a unifying language for the country.

Shah stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, three major initiatives have been undertaken in recent years to empower Hindi. The first is the creation of the Hindi Shabdsindhu dictionary, which he expressed confidence would become the world’s most comprehensive dictionary within five years. The second initiative is the establishment of the Bhartiya Bhasha Anubhag (Indian Language Section), which focuses on using technology for translation. The third initiative involves holding the Official Language Conference in various parts of the country to raise awareness of the official language.

He emphasized two key initiatives to further strengthen Hindi: developing a long-term policy for the enhancement, preservation, and longevity of Hindi literature and its grammatical forms, and translating all modern educational curricula into Hindi and other Indian languages. Shah also underscored the need to make Hindi universally accepted and adaptable.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L Murugan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language Bhartruhari Mahtab, convenors of the three sub-committees of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, Secretary of the Department of Official Language Anshuli Arya, and Joint Secretary Meenakshi Jolly were in attendance.

The 'Kendriya Hindi Samiti' provides guidance for the progressive use of Hindi and coordinates the work of various ministries and departments in promoting Hindi. Chaired by Prime Minister Modi, the Samiti includes nine Union Ministers, six Chief Ministers, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, and three convenors, totaling 21 members. The Samiti was reconstituted on November 9, 2021, with a tenure of three years.
