Kerala’s Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Major Ravi has criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma banning beef consumption in Assam.

New Delhi, India, December 5 (HBTV): Kerala’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Major Ravi has criticized fellow BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma banning beef consumption in Assam.

The Kerala BJP leader advised people to distinguish between what is beef and what is cow meat.

Beef include buffaloes and bulls, Ravi said. Beef is not cow, he said while reminding that people have the personal right and choice to their food habits.

The BJP cautioned against sending incorrect signals that could lead to communal tensions.

"First of all you need to understand what is beef and what is cow, if you suddenly ban beef, this will give a wrong message to so many people. Beef is not cow," he stated.

He also described Sarma's ruling as unsuitable, and advocated for personal choice in food habits.

"CM should not have said that. If somebody wants to eat, they should. There should be freedom to eat what you want. Cow we worship. I haven't seen any place where cows are being slaughtered," Major Ravi remarked.

"Beef is buffaloes and bulls...first of all, understand the difference and then impose ban...we shouldn't give wrong message to people and create communal issues," he said.
