Chumoukedima, Nagaland, December 3 (HBTV): The members of Dimapur-based Spirit of Faith church and the family of its pastor John Roughton have sought answers from the government following the denial of entry into India to John Roughton. He was sent back to the United States on October 31, updates said.
Members of the church and family members on Tuesday called a press conference and sought response from the authority as well as a more active intervention from the Nagaland state government over the issue.
John Roughton was detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on October 31 while he was returning to Dimapur from the United States with his family. He was reportedly detained and then sent back, without any 'valid reason,' updates said.
Pastor Zhepitoli Zhimomi, wife of Pastor Roughton, said her husband, who is an Overseas Citizen of India, has been staying in Nagaland for the past around 30 years and had never faced such issue before.
Earlier, on November 8, former Nagaland Chief Minister SC Jamir had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention to pave the way for his return even on humanitarian grounds.
