The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has started repairs on a road in Khuzama following a two-day ultimatum served by the Khuzama Students' Care Union.

Kohima, Nagaland, March 19 (HBTV): The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has started repairs on a road in Khuzama following a two-day ultimatum served by the Khuzama Students' Care Union.

The students’ body had staged a peaceful protest on March 11, highlighting the area’s long-neglected road conditions.

Responding to the demand, NHIDCL deployed machinery and laborers on March 17, initiating repairs along the National Highway stretch. As of March 19, approximately 320 meters of roadwork has been completed.

Resident Authority Engineer Devanand Kumar, speaking on-site, confirmed that the work is progressing smoothly. He stated that the Dense Bituminous Macadam laying is underway with a thickness of 90 mm. Kumar assured that the entire stretch would be completed within three months. He also highlighted that 15 laborers and three engineers are actively engaged in the project.

Expressing gratitude for the swift response, Nunuse Sale, a representative of the youth organization, acknowledged NHIDCL's commitment. He noted that the corporation has assured collaboration with local student and youth bodies for monitoring the progress. Sale also appreciated the presence of Resident Engineer Kumar in overseeing the repair work.

On behalf of Khuzama village, Sale extended gratitude to all individuals and organizations who stood in solidarity to push for the much-needed repairs for the road.
