NH 29 landslides: No shortage of essentials; supplies by alternative routes, says Kohima DC

Amid reports of panic buying following landslides hitting National Highway 29 near Pherima in Kohima district, the Kohima deputy commissioner has assured there is no shortage of essential commodities.

Kohima, Nagaland, September 4 (HBTV): Amid reports of panic buying following landslides hitting National Highway 29 near Pherima in Chumoukedima district, the office of the Kohima deputy commissioner has requested the public to not panic.   

The district administration issued a notice on September 4 noting reports that the public was resorting to panic-buying essential commodities and fuel due to speculations of shortage of the commodities following the landslides. 

The district administration has assured there is no shortage of the commodities. The district administration is working with its counterparts to ensure that the supply of essential commodities and fuel is in no way affected and that supplies are transported by alternative routes, the notice stated.      

No shortage: Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also assured the public that food grains and other essential commodities are in stock and will be made available.   

The KCC issued a note on September 4.

The organization warned shop owners and traders against taking advantage of the situation and hiking prices. The KCCI said “penalties will be imposed.”
