Nagaland tops North East states in State Food Safety Index 2023-24

Nagaland has bagged an award in special recognition for its overall performance on various parameters of food safety in State Food Safety Index 2023-24 at the Global Food Regulators Summit.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, September 25 (HBTV): Nagaland has bagged an award in special recognition for its overall performance on various parameters of food safety in State Food Safety Index 2023-24 in the recently concluded Global Food Regulators Summit 2024.  

The event was conducted from September 19 to the 21st at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Nagaland is the lone award-winner among the North Eastern states.

According to government source, Food Safety Index is based on performance of state/union territory on several significant parameters: Human resources and institutional data, compliance, food testing — infrastructure and surveillance, training and capacity building, consumer empowerment and FSSAI initiatives.   

The index is a dynamic quantitative and qualitative benchmarking model that provides an objective framework for evaluating food safety across all states and union territories.
