The Nagaland Police has issued a clarification about the events surrounding Nagaland Indian Reserve police personnel walking back to their post in the wee hours on June 5 after a long election duty.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, June 5 (HBTV): The Nagaland Police has issued a clarification about the events surrounding Nagaland Indian Reserve police personnel walking back to their post in the wee hours on June 5 after a long election duty in Odisha.    

The police issued a statement on Wednesday following a backlash that ensued from a viral video showing Nagaland IR policemen returning to their post on foot after election duty in the dark.       

The Nagaland police administration said the IR personnel were agitated as the vehicles to transport them to their post did not report on time. 

Following a directive from the police headquarters in Kohima, the Nagaland police said, the commandant of the 14th NAP (IR) conducted an inquiry and ascertained that due to workload, the district police had admitted to delay in providing vehicles on time.    

The superintendent of police of Jajpur in Odisha has regretted the lapses and oversight, the statement said. They also assured that all logistic support including transportation was provided and corrective measures were taken to ensure that such lapses do not take place in the future, the Nagaland police stated.  

Further, the Nagaland police stated that the scale of vehicle mandated by the election commission have been provided to the ‘F’ company of the 14th NAP (IR).    

The police headquarters also informed that all duty personnel of the 14 NAP IR deployed in Bhubaneswar and Jajpur are diligently performing their duties.
