Mokokchung, Nagaland, August 11 (HBTV): A 33-year-old man in Mokokchung district in Nagaland has been arrested allegedly for raping a three-years-and-a-four-month old child. The alleged rape reportedly happened in Longchem of Mokokchung.

The accused person has been identified as one Moakaba Aier. The incident allegedly occurred on August 10 at approximately 4:00 to 4:30 PM.

The father of the victim told HornbillTV that the accused person was a frequent visitor to their home. On the particular day, Aier allegedly lured the victim to an abandoned house, made her watch pornographic videos, and committed the crime.

Noticing her absence from the house, the father asked the elder daughter to look for the child. The elder daughter reportedly saw both the victim and accused person coming out of the abandoned house.

The victim's father urged the government and the media to follow up on the case until the final judgment is served against the accused person.

Condemning the incident, several community organizations of Saring village and Mokokchung district have demanded the ‘strictest’ of punishment for the accused. They also demanded that no bail should be given to him, and that he be charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

The organizations have urged the government to see that the accused person should be charged with the precise existing law or else, they cautioned, such incidents will keep recurring.
