Gurugram (Haryana) [India], November 28 (HBTV): BharatRohan, a leader in precision agriculture, has introduced the BharatRohan Pragati card in partnership with Obopay and Mastercard. This innovative multi-wallet instrument is designed to meet the unique needs of Indian farmers, enabling targeted credit access, purchases for essential inputs, and incentives for adopting advanced technologies like drones for sustainable farming practices.

The Pragati card combines open-loop and close-loop functionalities, allowing farmers to make seamless digital payments at merchant outlets accepting Mastercard. It facilitates purchases of agricultural essentials like seeds, biological inputs, fertilizers, pesticides, and drone-based crop monitoring and spraying services. Additionally, farmers can access season-specific loans ranging from INR 5,000 to INR 50,000 through a simple, KYC-verified onboarding process, subject to lender underwriting norms.

Through its collaboration with Mastercard, BharatRohan is exploring integration with the Mastercard Community Pass platform. This would enable offtake solutions for farmers, ensuring proceeds from produce sales are directly credited to the Pragati card. The platform will also provide supply chain financing solutions for such transactions.

Amandeep Panwar, CEO and Co-founder of BharatRohan, emphasized the card’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture. 'Our Pragati card will reward farmers for adopting eco-conscious practices like Integrated Crop Management and using our CropAssure® service. By reducing chemical use and embracing bio-fertilizers, farmers will earn redeemable points for future input costs, encouraging sustainable practices,' Panwar said.

The BharatRohan Pragati card also enhances transparency in financial transactions. Lenders can control loan utilization for specific agricultural purposes, streamlining credit access for farmers while reducing risks for financial institutions.

In line with its sustainability goals, BharatRohan is opening avenues for farmers to participate in carbon credit programs. These programs offer farmers new income streams by rewarding eco-friendly techniques like Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in paddy cultivation. By generating carbon credits, farmers can contribute to climate-friendly farming while boosting their income.

This innovative approach strengthens BharatRohan's mission to support sustainable agriculture while empowering farmers with technology and financial access. (ANI)
